Plant Sale Details
We are excited to have local vendors join us at our annual plant sale. Support local artists, businesses, farms and entrepreneurs. There will plenty to choose from, and they make perfect gifts.
*Many vendors will offer various methods of payment.

Come and enjoy our local talented musicians and band while shopping plants, and vendors.
There will also be food and beverage items for purchase.
Music will commence at 9am.
This year we will be having a sunflower growing competition. There will be prizes rewarded and all are welcome to enter.

TIPS ON HOW TO GROW LARGE SUNFLOWERS:

Planting:
*Directly seed outdoors after all danger of frost is past.
*Sow 1 inch deep in light, well- drained soil.
*Keep moist until seed germinates in 10-14 days.
*Space in a full sun location 20- 24 inches apart.
Growing:
*Water regularly but do not over fertilize

• You can also register at ffhorticultural@hotmail.com using the subject line “sunflower competition” OR on our website at backyardbuzz.ca
Contest End Date: Saturday, September 23, 2023 Sunflower measurements must be submitted to ffhorticutual@hotmail.com by Saturday, September 23, 2023

Rules and Regulations:
> No cost to participate.
> One seed packet per participant on a “first come first served basis” while supplies last.
> Participants are asked to provide their name, age category, address, email and phone # on the form.
> Participant’s contact information will not be shared with third parties and is for the sole purpose of ffhorticultural communication of 2023 Sunflower Contest updates and to
notify winners.
Once you receive the sunflower seeds, plant them in your garden and watch them grow.
• On the contest end date, email your measurements to ffhorticultural@hotmail.com listing
FIRST – YOUR NAME, ADDRESS AND AGE CATEGORY. THEN...
i) the diameter of your sunflower head,
ii) the height of your sunflower from the ground up to the tallest point, and
iii) the age category.
• Once the measurements are received by the FFHS, the top 5 participants from each category will be contacted via email. FFHS directors will organize to come out and verify the measurements. The winners will then be contacted by email.

Categories:
1) 12 years of age and under i) Biggest sunflower head ii) Tallest sunflower
2) 13 years of age and older i) Biggest sunflower head ii) Tallest sunflower
Prizes:
A prize will be awarded to the winners of the biggest sunflower head and tallest sunflower of each age group.

Important information about parking
Please park at the Garnet Graham parking lot, at the end of Francis Street W.
There will be volunteers with wagons to help transport your plant sale purchases to your vehicle.
Accessible parking is available at the Maryboro Lodge lot.
